Care Days with Doorstep Dental

Wondering what to expect when Doorstep Dental sets up a Care Day at your residential care facility, assisted living facility, or senior center? Doorstep Dental aims to make the dental visit comfortable, stress-free, and easy.

Step 1

Doorstep Dental meets with your facility management team. Through coordination with the facility manager, our team assess an appropriate location in the facility to see patients, finds a day that works for both the facility and our team, and finds out about the general needs of residents of that facility.

A Care Day is set up, which is when our dental team provides exams, cleanings, and x-rays for residents who have signed up.

Step 2

The facility manager sends out information to all residents and POAs about the upcoming Care Day. The patient or POA fills out a short form, provides insurance information, and signs the medical release, terms and conditions, and consent for treatment prior to the Care Day.

Step 3

Our Doorstep Dental team arrives on site and sets up the Care Day dental treatment equipment in a quiet area in your care facility. Our mobile clinic equipment includes privacy barriers, dental chairs, and yes! even portable x-ray machines! We sanitize all the equipment and the immediate area, and bring in our sanitized, individually packaged dental tools.

Step 4

Once set-up is complete, the Doorstep Dental team coordinates with the facility care givers to invite patients to come to the clinic and receive their exam, x-ray, and cleaning. Patients who need help getting to the clinic will be assisted, and helpers will ensure that everyone is moved peacefully and safely.

If you or your patient is bedridden, they will be seen at the end of the Care Day. Please see the FAQs for more information on bedridden patients.

Step 5

After the Care Day, our clinic manager will reach out to the patient or POA about needed treatments. Treatment Days usually happen a few weeks after the initial Care Day, and are similar to Care Days in set-up and procedure, but only include the dental treatment needed to alleviate pain, treat decay, and stop gum disease. If no further treatment is needed after your Care Day, we look forward to seeing your patient in six months at your facility's next Care Day!
